IAN G. MCGILLIVRAY

Originally from Rhode Island, Ian has been creating artwork since early in his childhood. He is a founding member and art director for the Brooklyn Art Collective (BKAC). Through this organization, he has developed, co-curated, and branded over nine exhibitions throughout the New York City area. Ian graduated from Pratt Institute with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design in 2005. After spending some time traveling around the US and Europe, he eventually settled in NYC and worked in the outdoor advertising industry, where he became Assistant Art Director at Fuel Outdoor. He has recently worked as a designer and guerilla marketing coordinator for an arts & fundraising organization, Republic, helping to organize, promote, and design for a number of events. Currently, Ian is working as an independent freelance designer for a wide spectrum of clients including musicians, fine artists, fashion labels, indie film-makers, restaurants, beverage companies, websites, t-shirt companies and more.

Ian considers himself to be a Graphic Designer by profession and a Painter by compulsion. Heavily influenced by skate culture, Pop Art, Street Art, 1970s exploitation film posters, as well as 1950s and 1960s illustrations, he has developed a unique style of art that he calls Pop Mortem. These illustrative paintings have been shown throughout the New York City area.
